The New Chairperson of Makerere University Council is Mrs Lorna Magara, who has been elected for a 4-year term beginning on December 19th 2018.

She becomes the first woman to occupy that position since Makerere University was established in 1922.

Mrs Lorna Magara holds A Bachelor of Arts with Education from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda
A Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Management from Uganda Christian University in Mukono , Uganda.
