Dr Maggie Kigozi is a Medical Doctor, A Trustee of the Shell Foundation UK, Chairperson of the Global Fund Board Uganda CCM; Chairman Africa Scout Foundation, Vice Chair of Akina Mama Wa Afrika and Board member of Trade Mark East Africa Ltd. She runs Zuri Model Farm Ltd;
Dr Maggie Kigozi sits on a number of boards and works with many organisations that support leadership and entrepreneurship for women and youth.
She is an “avid” Motorcycle Rider, like her Father and siblings, a Mother to famous Hip Hop artist, Navio, and a Gayaza Old Girl.
Professional Career
Dr. Maggie Kigozi is a medical doctor by profession. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and has practiced as a physician in Uganda Kenya and Zambia.
In 1994 Dr. Maggie left the medical profession and joined Crown Bottlers Uganda Limited (manufacturers of Pepsi products) as the Marketing Director. The company is now a market leader in the beverage sector.
During her tenure at Crown Bottlers, she was appointed board member of Uganda Manufacturers Association. She chairs the Marketing Committee which hosts the prestigious Uganda International Trade Fair.
In 1999 Dr Maggie Kigozi was appointed The Executive Director of Uganda Investment Authority(UIA). She is the first person and first woman to serve in that position at UIA. During her tenure until 2011, Uganda received $4 billion Foreign investment and licensed $10 billion Domestic investors.
Dr Maggie Kigozi has continued to serve in various capacities, to name a few:
- Board Member Commercial Bank of Africa;
- Advisory Board Member of the Global Banking Alliance for Women (GBA);
- Director of the Board, Uganda Export Promotion Board & Crown Beverages Limited;
- Founder, Uganda Investment Authority Women Entrepreneurs Network;
- President of the Business and Professional Women Uganda;
A Sportswoman who represented Uganda in Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Hockey & Squash;
Academic Career
Dr Maggie Kigozi attended Aga Khan Primary School, Gayaza High School for her O’ Levels, and Kololo Senior Secondary School for A’ Levels. She then joined Makerere University School of Medicine, graduating with a degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Associate Professor of Economics at Makerere University; A Fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative of the Aspen Institute.
